Second ITER Council Meeting

The second meeting of the ITER Council took place June 17-18, 2008 in Aomori, Japan. All seven Members participating in the joint implementation of the ITER Project: EU, China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, and USA took part in the meeting.

In the course of the meeting Director General of the ITER Organization Dr. Kaname Ikeda made a presentation of the results achieved since November 2007 (the time of the first ITER Council meeting).

The main attention of the participants in the meeting was paid to the issues of the Project cost and schedule. The Council approved of the new Project specification proposed by the ITER Organization, as well as the revised Integrated Project Schedule, aimed at achieving the first plasma with ITER in 2018.

The participants discussed other issues related to the joint implementation of the ITER Project.
